It’s the often forgotten feature in a room and you can’t be blamed for doing so. How often do you spend your days staring at the ceiling?
Painting your ceiling adds another dimension to space. I’m not talking about recreating the Sistine Chapel or Versailles – unless of course you have the ability to do so – a single colour or pattern can do wonders.
Here is some inspiration on how a painted ceiling can improve your home:
Theming your room
More often than not when you start planning how you will redecorate your room, you’ll have a theme in mind, complete with colour and decor. Adding colour or pattern to your ceiling will complete your theming and give it that extra pizzazz.
Creating a fun environment
Your ceiling doesn’t have to be plain. A great idea for playing up your fifth wall is adding patterns to your ceiling! You can keep it simple with stripes (perfect for kids rooms or kitchen) or if you’re a pro at renovations why not try a motif, or paint the sky.
Adding extra height
If you have a room with low ceiling, make it appear larger by painting your room in contrasting colours. By painting your ceiling a lighter colour it forces the eye to travel upward, a similar effect to if you had a skylight in your room, creating the illusion of space.
Creating a ‘cocoon’ effect –
Have you ever stayed in a hotel and felt like you were being wrapped up in warmth and safety? You can recreate that feeling at home by painting your ceiling the same colour as your walls, creating a seamless wall-to-ceiling transition. Stick to pastel colours as opposed to bright or dark as they can make the room feel claustrophobic over time.
